Roonak International Trade Company started its operations in the year 2021. Initially, the company was involved in packaging, buying and selling dried fruits, and exporting and importing them. It has since continued its activities as an export management company under the “Rooniako.”

One of the products the company has been producing for 40 years as a family business is pistachios, which are exported to other countries.

Types of Pistachios:

Pistachios are a delicious and unique type of nut known for their relatively sweet taste and attractive, natural colour. Pistachios are one of the oldest nuts in the world and have been cultivated in the Middle East for thousands of years. Like all nuts, pistachios are rich in beneficial nutrients, but they also have some unique properties that set them apart from other nuts. Pistachios can be used as a snack, in baking, cooking, and more, making them a trendy choice for their nutritional benefits and exquisite flavour. Botanists have identified approximately 60 different pistachio varieties in Iran alone, although we are familiar with only a few of them.

Round Pistachios:

Round pistachios, also known as “Pistachio Fandoghi,” are a type of round-shaped pistachio with a purplish-red shell and a creamy-coloured, slightly bony skin. These are considered some of the most cost-effective Iranian pistachios due to their smaller size, which means you get more pistachios per kilogram. Their round appearance and nutty flavour have made them famous as “Fandoghi pistachios” in the global markets.

Kaleh Ghoochi Pistachio:

Kaleh Ghoochi Pistachio is one of the most popular Iranian pistachios, also known as “Jumbo” in international markets. A significant portion of this pistachio’s production is exported to European countries. It is known for its large size and, consequently, its higher price. Kaleh Ghoochi pistachios are round and large in appearance, with thicker kernels compared to other pistachio varieties. The color of the kernels is reddish-gray, and the skin is relatively dark white. Despite having fewer pistachios per kilogram due to their larger size, the substantial size and round appearance have made them highly popular in the market. The taste of Kaleh Ghoochi pistachios is also very delicious.

Ahmad Aghaei Pistachio:

One of the newer Iranian pistachio varieties is Ahmad Aghaei Pistachio, also known as “Long” in the global markets. The fruit of Ahmad Aghaei pistachio is elongated, with a white shell and red kernels. Ahmad Aghaei pistachios are not only used for snacks but are also consumed for making halva.

Akbari Pistachio:

Akbari Pistachio is one of the valuable Iranian pistachio varieties, also referred to as “Super Long” in international markets. In fact, this pistachio has the highest economic value. The fruit of Akbari pistachio is almond-shaped, elongated, and large. Its shell colour is dark cream and bone-like, while the kernels have a purplish-brown colour.
